80 Billion Dollars Available to Students for Education

Author: Tim Grimsley

Federal government student funds are at historic levels this year. With the addition of several new programs and choices the Department of Education is set to go higher than ever. There will be a total of 80 billion dollars available this year for students to use for education. Part of this increase was brought about to support the new SMART program which will allow students in their 3rd and 4th years to acquire up to a $4,000.00 grant for education. This program will have some eligibility requirements such as good grade point levels. The new program will offer cash strapped college students a little relief in the way of school costs.

If you are about to start college there several programs for you to chose from also. One is the Academic Competitiveness Grant. This grant allows payments of up to $1,500.00 to underclassmen and women. The pell grant will also be available as always.

With these programs set to help students with tuitions, you may also want to take advantage of the various student loans that are available through the federal government. Part of the budget increase was ear marked for student loan programs. Most are easy to qualify for and you may defer payment until you graduate. All of these programs are interesting and will make it easier than ever to attend college.
