Deciding on an exercise activity to do at home and having the discipline to stick with it can be very challenging. This is because there is a wide selection of exercise activities and exercise equipment that you can choose from, and the distractions at home can make it very difficult to do the exercise regularly. Given this, picking out an activity and the right equipment should involve choosing something that is effective, safe and something you see yourself doing in the long term. For most people, the exercise and equipment of choice are walking and using a treadmill. However, for people who may want a more exciting workout at home, biking and exercise bikes are the activity and equipment of choice.

Using an exercise bike can provide a unique way to exercise because this machine allows you to simulate various biking routines that require different levels of performance. In addition to this, some exercise bikes can even be plugged into a television that can allow you to interactively pedal through simulated courses. All these make the exercise fun and eliminate the boredom that comes with doing the same exercise over and over again.

Studies have shown that people burn about 550 calories when they use exercise bikes, which can be considered small compared to more strenuous activities. However, given that using an exercise bike is more fun than other activities, you can expect that people would most likely spend more time using them than they would other equipment. As a result of this, you get to burn more calories using the exercise bike since you would end up using it longer and more regularly.

Safety

Exercise bikes also provide a safe way to exercise since the likelihood of falling off them is very small as compared to other equipment. Using exercise bikes also do not stress your body that much since your joints would not be too stressed during the exercise.
