Rosacea: Rosacea Acne Treatment Options

Author: C Mueller

Rosacea is a condition that occurs on the face and typically in on the cheeks and nose that results in a severe redness of the skin and often resembles bad acne. You might also experience it around your mouth and forehead.

It is hereditary and the symptoms can come and go. It is a condition that affects women more often than men and the onset of symptoms tends to occur in people over 30 years of age although both women and men can experience it at anytime.

In some cases, severe symptoms can cause people to suffer in their business and/or personal lives given the embarrassment or self-consciousness of their condition.

Although there is no cure for rosacea, there are treatment options available.

Your best bet to start with is to consult a medical professional such as a dermatologist instead of diagnosing yourself. You want to ensure you get good advice and a correct diagnosis from someone who is trained to offer this advice.

In terms of treatment options, one treatment option is the use of topical products that are applied directly to the skin. Some topical products often treat the obvious symptoms and not the underlying cause of the problem and may actually may the situation worse.

Another treatment option is the use of laser or pulsed light technology, technology that is also used for hair removal. In these cases, the skin is heated to a point that reduces or eliminates the redness caused by rosacea by treating the dilated blood vessels that is causing the redness.

Not all rosacea products work for all people so again your best bet is to first consult a skincare professional to outline your options.
